Sossusvlei red dunes in Namibia — Inside Namibia team story

About

Our Story

How falling in love with Namibia — and making every mistake along the way — turned into a mission to help other travelers get it right.

  • Based in Swakopmund
  • Self-drive trips only
  • No commissions

How it started

It Started With Our Own Mistakes

  1. First trip

    We came as travelers.

We first came to Namibia as travelers — one from Germany, one from the United States. Different backgrounds, but the same feeling when we saw Namibia for the first time: this is unlike anything else.

  2. And came back

    One trip became many.

The endless gravel roads. The silence you can almost hear. The stars so bright they feel close enough to touch. We came back again. And again.

  3. The mistakes

What Google Maps doesn't show you.

But each trip also taught us how much we'd gotten wrong. The route that looked perfect on Google Maps but took twice as long. The camp that was fully booked because we didn't know you need to reserve a year in advance. The car choice that made sense on paper but not on the Spreetshoogte Pass.

  4. The shift

What we know now can save other trips.

After multiple trips, a growing stack of notes, and a network of Namibian friends, guides, and lodge owners — we realized something: everything we know now could save other travelers real time, real money, and real frustration.

That's why we built Inside Namibia. Not as a tour agency. Not as a booking platform. But as an expert advisory service — where real people review your real plan and make it better.

The team

International Perspective, Local Expertise

We understand what it's like to plan a Namibia trip from abroad — the excitement, the uncertainty, and the overwhelming amount of contradictory information online.

But we also have something most travelers don't: a team of Namibian tour guides and locals who know the country from the inside. They know which roads are actually drivable this season, which camps are worth the detour, and where to find the experiences that don't show up on TripAdvisor.

Together, we combine the outsider's perspective (we know what questions first-time visitors have) with insider knowledge (we know the real answers).

Our philosophy

Reviews, Not Tours

We don't sell packaged tours. We don't take commission from lodges. We don't push you into a pre-built itinerary.

Instead, we review the trip you want to take — and make it better. We focus on the people: your group, your comfort level, your appetite for adventure, your experience on gravel. Because the right Namibia trip for a honeymooning couple is completely different from the right trip for a family with three kids.

Our job is to make sure your trip is as good as it can be — based on who you actually are, not who a brochure was written for.
